Agenda for Meeting – Night of Philosophy and Ideas, April 3rd

Problems posting this on the PEiPL website earlier – so here it is again at the 11th hour almost…. Note change of time for the April 3rd meeting and new info in red.

Dear all,

My apologies for taking this long to get back to the forum about this idea/ event.  Partly due to others being very busy and not answering emails and the usual beginning of the semester madness!!

I would like to call a meeting for Wednesday April 3rd, 7- 8.30pm at Melbourne Uni.  I have booked a meeting room – Room 651, Level 6, North Wing, Arts West (this is the building the other side of Old Arts – next to the Baillieu Library).

So far – I have tentatively put us down on the lists for the White Nights (August); The Wheeler Centre is prepared to allow us to rent the space but no front of house support and rather expensive!: The French Embassy may be willing to offer some funding (not huge but helpful); the Arts Faculty here are organising a “Being Human” festival for November which we could possibly coordinate with – there may be some funds (not much); Lennie is having a Preshil event at the State Library in July around the time of the AAP – which was another time we had mooted for the Night of Philosophy; and there is another philosophy conference at Unimelb just after the AAP – would another event be too much?

So – I would love to see people who want to get on board with this at the meeting with ideas and plans for action.  Can you please let me know if you would like to be involved – and if you will be able to attend the meeting.  amdaly@unimelb.edu.au   0416 235 305

all best,

Anya
