Learning Forum, the Joint Caucus of Socially Engaged Philosophers and Historians of Science

JCSEPHS Needs You!

This is a call for expressions of interest in participating in a Learning Forum to be convened by JCSEPHS (the Joint Caucus of Socially Engaged Philosophers and Historians of Science) and held at the Philosophy of Science Assoc./History of Science Soc. meetings in November 2018 in Seattle. Self-nominations and those of others involved in social engagement activities relating to HPS research are welcome.

The session will involve a 2-minute presentation from each of those enlisted, and then small table discussions allowingparticipants to engage with the presenters.  The session continues previous mentorship sessions that JCSEPHS has sponsored at joint meetings, but should have appeal for those at all career stages.  The organizing committee of Rachel Ankeny, Sean Valles, and Rob Wilson have already identified a number of likely participants but would appreciate hearing from others doing the socially engaged work that is the focus of JCSEPHS.

Examples might include HPS scholars working in non-traditional settings that involve using HPS as part of social engagement activities, HPS academics who work with external organisations (e.g., NGOs, government) where their HPS expertise is part of social engagement, etc.< Please contact Rob Wilson at rwilson.robert@gmail.com for further information or expressions of interest.  Responses appreciated by June 30th.
